Meet Our Pastors David and Nancy Goebel
David
and Nancy met while both were undergraduates at Wheaton College. David
studied psychology there while Nancy earned her degree in vocal
performance from the Conservatory at Wheaton's School of Music. Nancy
went on to earn her Masters of Music in vocal performance at The
University of Southern California in 1990.
David earned his
Master of Divinity from Union Theological Seminary in Virginia in 1993
and later went on to complete a Doctor of Ministry at Columbia
Theological Seminary in 2003. His focus at Columbia was on developing
community-building strategies through small groups and that work
culminated in the writing of his dissertation: Back to the Future: A Missional Strategy of Small Group Community for a Post-Modern Mainline Church.
David
and Nancy have developed a unique ministry partnership over the years,
blending David's communication skills with Nancy's music and worship
leadership skills. Many people in the churches they have served or on
retreats they have led remark that this combination blesses them
deeply. Their creativity, openness to the working of the Holy Spirit,
and transparent communication style invite others into an encounter of
the Divine that is both uplifting and challenging.
David serves as the Lead Pastor for Reflections Church and Nancy is the Director of Worship Arts.
They have been married for 19 years and have four wonderful children.
